This is a
pictorial diary of the Messano 'T' litter, Swe Ch Floprym Rivaldo
(Rivaldo) x Messano Riseand Shine (Sunny). The litter was born
on 02/07/2008 and consists of 4 bitches and 4 dogs (all puppies
have homes arranged for them).

This photo shows Sunny with 2 days remaining until her puppies
are born. She did not grow very large and was still being
exercised with the other dogs until only a week before the
birth. She has excellent muscle tone and this obviously
kept her looking trim.

Well, the big day finally arrived and gave us some surprises.
Sunny's temperature dropped at lunchtime on the 1st July
(this is an accurate indication that the puppies are on
their way) and by early evening she was restless, digging
holes in the gravel and generally huffing and puffing.
Julie stayed up with her through the night, to monitor
Sunny's condition, but this first stage can last up to
48 hours so we carried on as normal while keeping an eye
on her progress. The next morning Sunny ate her breakfast
and continued much as the day before and then at 15:45
she started to have contractions. The first puppy was
born at 17:00 and she continued to deliver the puppies
at regular intervals until 20:20. We were very surprised
as we only expected 3or 4 puppies at most, as she never
showed signs of having a large litter. It just goes to
show that even though we have had many litters over the
years, nature can still fool us!

shows the puppies at 2 days old, they have all been marked
with wax crayons so that we can easily identify them....

.....most
of the puppies are a pale cream colour, but two of the bitches
are a honey colour.

.....Sunny is much more relaxed now and is proving to be
an excellent, natural mother. This is no surprise as these
puppies are our 6th generation of this line and the bitches
have all been excellent mothers.

Day 4...the puppies are all putting on weight evenly and are
happy & content....

....the puppies all have a good appetite and as there are
8 puppies, they all get to feed at the same time!....

.....it is difficult to find interesting photos of the pups
at this age, as they don't tend to do much, apart from eat
and sleep!
